Description:
We begin our Classic River Rhine Tour No. 1 with your arrival on
- Sunday
by lunch time at Duesseldorf Int’l Airport where we expect you by our bus pick up service taking you to our favourite family owned Hotel in the city of Rheydt where you can take a jet-lag rest or do some shopping in the close-by shops. At early evening we expect you for our Welcome Dinner in the ‘Hunter’s Snuggery’ when we will explain our upcoming tour in brief to you. A good German evening dinner with beer specialities from our area are included until you drop at your cosy beds.
- Monday
starts with an ample German breakfast buffet with real hot coffee whenever you are ready. By 10 am we will pick you up and bring you to our touring team garage passing along the Castle of Rheydt. At the CarMANT Team Garage you will be instructed in the ‘secrets of your classic car’ and by 11 am we will leave for our first light tour on country roads to train your skills in driving your classic CarMANT car. By 1 pm we will make a stop by a country restaurant to get a light meal and some refreshing drinks. After that we will cross the hilly Eifel countryside heading for our old-fashioned countryside hotel where the Landlady will cook a very special evening dinner to family recipees and the Landlord will help us selecting the right wine choices.
Every room in the 200 years old family owned hotel is differently styled, from cosy old German through various European styles to the ‘Arabian Room’.
- Tuesday
After a countryside breakfast we will start the engines heading for the city of Cochem (River Moselle) where we will have a light lunch by the river.
Cochem / Mosel
- Now we will drive along the river Moselle to the small city of Loef where we will cross the hills between the rivers Moselle and Rhine reaching Father Rhine by the city of Boppard.
Free flight – Boppard
- From here it is a breathtaking, very scenic ride along the river Rhine with many castles at both embankments south to the city of Oberwesel where we will drive up a very steep road to our today’s hotel Schoenburg. This castle has a very long tradition and is located near the Loreley Cliff where the river Rhine has its deepest and smallest area, full of ancient histories and fairy tales. You will enjoy your castle rooms furnitured in the old style (yet new beds and hot showers) and the old fashioned dinner meal with a final night cap by the castle wall overlooking the nightly river Rhine will care for unforgettable memories.
- Wednesday
An early breakfast in the castle Schoenburg and off we go along the river Rhine south to the city of Bingen (opposite the well known ‘wine-city’ of Ruedesheim) where we will leave Old Father Rhine for a trip to the ancient city of Schwetzingen. In between we will have a few stops for those needing a break – no problem as our CarMANT classic cars are all equipped with 2-way-radio intercoms enabling an easy contact during travelling.
“Rheinromantik” – Rhine Romanticism.
On this part of the Rhine – the Middle Rhine Valley (between Cologne and Mainz, most famous maybe the part between Koblenz and Bingen) – one can enjoy river cruises for a daytrip and watch 20 magnificent castles passing by on just a few kilometers (on this 60km stretch of the Middle Rhine Valley that the UNESCO declared to its heritage site, there are more than 40 castles and palaces) – the highest density of castles in the world. Nowhere else can you find so many castles on one spot. Some castles are well preserved, some are hotels today, others lie in ruins.
This magnificent landscape with its history easily fascinated and inspired painters, poets and musicians like Wiliam Turner, Stanfield, Heinrich Heine, Goethe, Schiller, Hölderlin, Kleist, von Fallerleben, Robert Schumann and many, many more… which was the foundation to the so called “Rheinromantik”– Rhine Romanticism. Every place offers an interesting history and some famous legends like the Loreley or the Dragon Mountain where Siegfried once killed a dragon… maybe you get lucky and you discover the hidden Rhinegold ;-)
Follow the footsteps of people like Lord Byron, Victor Hugo or Brentano along the Middle Rhine Valley – an UNESCO World heritage site.

- In Schwetzingen we will reside at a Hotel & Restaurant (in the 6th generation) close by the castle – interested parties may plan for a visit either of the castle or of the city (both very well worth the efforts). A sumptuous dinner will be the grand finale of this day.
- Thursday
After an early breakfast we will be picked up by an English speaking guide (and bus) to visit the city of Heidelberg in the morning until lunch – catch as many good memories of Heidelberg as possible. Take a look at the picturesque city of Heidelberg, which has been charming visitors for centuries! The medieval central part of the city is beautiful, and rich in culture and history.

Original song of 1967 (in German)
- By approx. 2 pm we will return to our Hotel, get our CarMANT classic cars started and head back to our starting point, the city of Rheydt.
From Heidelberg we will take the Autobahn E31 all the way up to our hotel ‘Spickhofen’, taking approx. 5 hours (with stops) – after a short check-in we will enjoy our Farewell Dinner in the ‘Hunter’s Snuggery’ specially arranged by the Chef Mr. Franz-Josef Spickhofen, and let good memories of the CarMANT River Rhine Tour pass by during a real ‘Rhineland celebration dinner’
- Friday
Take an early breakfast as our bus pick up service will meet you by 8.30 am to take you to Duesseldorf airport for your return flights as you must be there 3 hours before departure time.
