To describe the history of the VW beetle
…at this place would be kind of arrogant. Who does not know the beetle, the bug, who wouldn’t have had her/his own story with one of them?
Everybody loves the beetle and is missing her more and more. But that is sure: as a convertible, she is still the silent love of many a ‘1960er’ and younger ones. Yet, the CaRMANT VW Beetle Convertible with her original Karmann-Tuning is a real blast: steelblue-metallic, wider, lower, faster, what else do you expect from a real CarMANT VW Beetle Convertible?
Bringing back some data into memory:
On 17.02.1972 the
- 15,007,034th VW Beetle left production halls. And what are the special news?
She replaced the hitherto most produced automobile in the world,. the Ford Model T.
Until 1978 they built - 15,8000,000 VW Beetle alone in Germany, the last coming 19.01.1979 from the city of Emden.
- 19,000,000 were built up to then worldwide and
- 21,529,464 beetles in total, of which the last one was produced on 30.07.2003 in Pueblo (Mexico) produziert, now to be seen at the Autostadt Wolfsburg in the VW-Museum.
And one of such 21,529,464 VW beetles, amongst which there were
331,847 Convertibles produced in the Karmann factory,
where they started in 1949 with the production of convertible cars , has now arrived end of November 2008 from Luxemburg at CarMANT. W. Karmann, who bought 1948 a beetle sedan to rebuild her in the city of Osnabrueck into a 4-seater convertible, would not have dreamed of this development. Many changes in details followed until on 10.01.1980 the last Karmann Beetle Convertible left the factory.
