The CarMANT-Fleet is mainly based on classic cars built by Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and VW:
“Mercedes-Benz is a German automobile maker formed in 1926 by the amalgamation of the Gottlieb Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft and the Carl Benz & Cie. The tradename “Mercedes” was inspired by the businessman Emil Jellinek who participated in 1898 under the pseudonym ‘Mercedes’ (name of his daughter Mercédès) in the Nice racing week. Although „Mercedes” was then used as the driver’s name, it became known in connection with the DMG. In 1900 Jellinek induced the production of the new, more efficient motor models „Daimler-Mercedes”, by which the name “Mercedes” became known as a product for the first time. At the same time he became the distribution partner for Daimler cars and -motors and ordered 36 cars for a total price of 550.001 Mark (today’s value approx. 3 million Euro), and a few weeks later another 36 Daimler-cars with the 8-HP-Motor.”
“After WWII, the first Porsche 356 No. 1 was built in 1948 in Zuffenhausen. Early 1950 Porsche began the 356 production with over 400 cars. A milestone was the development of the Porsche 911 in 1963, a 2+2 seater sports car with a 6 cylinder flat engine, rear wheel drive (Carrera) of which meanwhile many variations were made: Coupè, Targa, Cabriolet, Speedster (roadster). Porsche race cars 934 and 935 are derivates of the 911. A further development of the 356 was the 550 spyder (1500 RS) which became known in the USA as the race car in which Hollywood star James Dean was killed in an accident of no fault of his own. Today, 2009, Porsche has become the No. 1 car maker in Germany also through the fact that they now own the majority stock share in Volkswagen.”
“ Volkswagen, or just VW, has doubtlessly become known all over the world by its model Kaefer (beetle or bug) – the name is reported to have been given by the New York Times in an article about the development of the “people’s car” dated July 03, 1938 – of which finally 21,529,464 cars were built. Ferdinand Porsche started production in 1937 in the city of Wolfsburg. In the early years after WWII it was the Kaefer contributing to the fame, later followed by Fox, Polo, Golf, New Beetle, Scirocco, Jetta, Touran, Tiguan, Eos, Passat, Passat CC, Sharan, Touareg, Phaeton, Caddy Life, Multivan, and more. Today, VW owns also Audi, Škoda, Seat, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini.”
The noble trademark “Mercedes” has been the synonyme for elegance, sportivity, reliability for over 100 years and is preferred all over the world by emperors, kings, popes, government leaders, the rich and the beautiful, and by CarMANT. However, it is not always possible to get one these noble originals, because they are passed on in the families from one generation to the next, or they are bougth at auctions by investors because of their rises in value like expensive paintings, or the last examples are simply surviving in museums.
In addition to our Original-Mercedes-Roadsters, we have found in the world markets some classic car roadsters which are on par with the originals in optics, have been reasonably priced and are top notch technically:
